Housing Authority of the City of Bridgeport Apartment Details

Bridgeport Housing Authority's supply of housing includes nearly 2,600 public housing equivalent units - apartments that serve low income families, seniors, and people with disabilities. Responding to a growing need for affordable housing, as well as a reduction of federal funds, BHA is diversifying its portfolio and developing new housing opportunities for low and moderate income citizens.
The Authority is responsible for administering the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Program participants pay 30% of their adjusted income toward the fair market rent for their unit size. In addition to its allocations of these vouchers, the Authority administers similar programs for the city.
