HSI is a nonprofit that has been working to end chronic homelessness and help those at risk of displacement through the operation and development of permanent supportive housing for over 25 years in NYC.
The apartments come fully furnished with all the necessities: a bed, dresser, night stand, table, chairs, and appliances.
HSI buildings have learning centers, CCTV systems, emergency food pantries, community rooms, 24 hour front desk staff, live-in supers and so much more. But most importantlyhousing provides tenants their very own private apartments with the highest quality services right on-site to break the cycle of homelessness for good.
With case management, individual counseling, support group, relapse prevention, psychiatric care, medical services, educational and vocational support, and overall coordination of care, HSI tenants are given access to the tools they need for health and housing stability.

Most low income apartments have waiting lists. Some of these lists can take years until you can be called for openings. The key is to try to get on as many waiting lists as possible.
