Since 1988 Community Action Center (CAC) has been a primary source of support for the more than 5,000 people who are living in poverty in Whitman County. As a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization we offer services ranging from emergency and transitional housing, food supplements, and energy assistance to legal referral, rental assistance, weatherization, home rehab and home purchase assistance. Whitman County Community Action Center fights to reduce poverty, build strong independent families, and a better community. CAC is one of more than 900 Community Action Agencies established under the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 to fight America's War on Poverty. Community Action Agencies help people to help themselves in achieving self-sufficiency.
