Sumter County Housing Department Apartment Details

Sumter County Housing Department provides housing assistance to low income residents through the management of the areas Housing Choice Voucher Program - Section 8. This program is income based and the eligibility requirements are set by HUD. There may be a waiting list for this program and at times the list may close to new applicants due to the overwhelming need for housing assistance and the size and length of wait of the list. If you are in need of assistance please contact the Housing Department directly to obtain more information about eligibility requirements, availability of assistance, the status of any waiting lists and their application procedures. Their office is available Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm to assist you.

This department also offers Down Payment Assistance and Home Repair Assistance.

Most low income apartments have waiting lists. Some of these lists can take years until you can be called for openings. The key is to try to get on as many waiting lists as possible.
