Portland Habilitation Center Northwest Apartment Details

Portland Habilitation Center Northwest (PHCNW) manages a portfolio of
HUD-subsidized and non-subsidized affordable properties. PHC Northwest
works with the Section 8 Voucher, RASP, DV grants, Ready-to-Rent, Fresh
Start, and other assistance programs. Due to demand most properties
operate off of a waiting list.

Affordable Housing: Unsubsidized housing at a price that is competitive
and affordable for individuals and families. Income must be twice the
amount of rent and cannot exceed 60% of the median income.

HUD section 8 project-based housing: Apartment complexes where each
resident or family pays 30% of their monthly income for rent.
Approximate 2 year wait. Income cannot exceed 50% of the median income.

HUD section 811 housing for people with disabilities: Each resident pays
30% of his or her monthly income for rent. Approximate 3-5 year wait.

Most low income apartments have waiting lists. Some of these lists can take years until you can be called for openings. The key is to try to get on as many waiting lists as possible.
